For this brief I was required to create three fictional promotional posters for the Vodafone New Zealand Music Awards, in the style of another artist or designer. We were required to pick a New Zealand musician and create posters that related to them, so I chose Connan Mockasin. This brief helped us explore and trial different processes and styles.

This poster was created in Illustrator, as there were many outlines, patterns and flat colours used. Since there are so many colours, there were a lot of different developments of making choices as to which colours and patterns worked best together. The overall feel has a very light, bright appearance, which contrasts with the pose and the items, an everyday scene. The dolphins, caramels, wine, lion bust, and heart patterned trousers are references to Connan Mockasin lyrics and photoshoots.

The artist model I used for this poster was Laura Callaghan, an illustrator who showcases her work on social media. Her illustrations capture a diverse range of women in everyday scenes, snapshots into their lives. She uses watercolour and digital colouring, bright colours, line-work and patterns.
