The Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra is to launch a new digital platform on the occasion of its 125th anniversary.
State-of-the-art sound and video and a cutting-edge use of digital media allow the orchestra to reach outside the walls of the Concertgebouw. This bold move makes RCO classical music universally accessible. The app 'RCO meets Fink, the concert as an app' is the kick-off of this pioneering dream.
On Queen’s Day 2012, singer/songwriter Fink performed with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra. Commisioned by Videodock, and in collaboration with a team of developers and strategists, Studio Duel translated the performance to an app.
The app is based on the full HD-video of the concert. A further dimension is offered by an interactive timelime. For example, the viewer is allowed to see in split-screen how the Fink band members look back on the show. Also, there are interviews with the conductor, the arranger and bassplayer of the orchestra. The 360-video recreates the concert experience from the point of view of the orchestra.
Duel was responsible for the interface design and collaborated on the interaction design of the app. The interactive timeline allows users to easily scroll through the concert, as well as access the extra features. All features have their own color. Watching video material on your own Apple TV is now just one tap away.
