Signage Wayfinding
Adelaide Zoo is the second oldest zoo in Australia and due to this they are in need of some improvements to their wayfinding. The entrance to the zoo is a large brick wall and keeping with this theme I have based the entrance sign around this. It is designed to be the same height as an average male and this is so people can take pictures beside it and attract more people through word of mouth.

Adelaide Zoo uses a lot of wood and brick signage to help to determine where you are. There is an opportunity to improve visibility and decrease confusion among patrons with the use of brighter colors and color coding areas of the zoo. The current wood grain and stone work blends in with the backdrop of the zoo and is easily lost in the landscape.

Another improvement I wanted to make was time management. There is nothing more frustrating than reading a sign that says monkey next right and after following it for 20 minutes in the heat you still don't see any monkeys. A time reference involved in the signage is a solution that I used in my design and helps patrons to identify how long it will take to find the animal they are looking for.

Another major design element is the color coding of all the areas in the zoo. This is done to help patrons to easily navigate the zoo and help to mage wayfinding easier and children to follow colors to find the animals they like. As well as incorporating symbols and figures that are easily recognizable for children is a fun and enganging answer to getting the whole family involved.
