Unit 45&47: Life Drawing. Inks, Sponges and Cotton buds
30/01/2018
In this life drawing session we used alternative media such as coloured ink, sponges and cotton. We also did 6 small pieces of charcoal where we would use the block and line technique. This excersise allowed me to experiment with different forms of drawing with that I had never used before. Below is the Charcoal block and line form
We had to snap a small piece of charcoal and use it on it's side, When we added the mass of the figure to the page, we then gave the model an outline using the sharp side of the charcoal.
In this set of a drawings, we based these upon negative space, we used colour ink and charcoal to add mass which I feel makes the piece more striking. As I'm a noivce to using coloured ink, the ink that I applied would often drip down the page which in my opinion adds the piece and gives it an abstract look.
In the above images, We used the coloured ink to apply the mass of the figure and then using a cotton bud, we applied a darker colour to tone over the mass to give it form. This gives my pieces expression and energy. I feel that out of all my other pieces of artwork that this is the weakest due to the fact that it was my first time using the sponges and cotton buds which made it hard to apply the darker colour

Overall I enjoyed trying new ways of adding to a piece. I definitely feel that I can add these forms of media to another piece that I will create later on in life.
