ABOUT POSTA Italbar — Pastificio, Pizzeria & Enoteca
Contracted through Branding & Buzzing, I was asked to help out with the design of
POSTA Italbar — Pastiificio, Pizzeria & Enoteca.

The name, of course a play on words; while located in a building repurposed from old post office, while serving fresh handmade PASTA and so you have; POSTA.

The first impression of the restaurant; inviting, modern contemporary and elegant with a comfortable mid-century feel.

The food boasts traditional Italian cooking, with a innovative techniques to satisfy various clientele. They have elegant food features including their parmigiano wheel flambeed with pasta and ofcourse unique cocktails. POSTA “Xpress” is the side takeout bar available to those with limited time.

The wine bar enoteca has an enomatic wine menu which means the enomatic machines allows to open vintage bottles to taste some of the best award-winning and exclusive POSTA wines from Italy.

They have a lot of seating that includes the patio and outdoor bar, offering breathtaking waterfront views. The various textures and finishes gives for a fun, yet sheik atmosphere.

The staff has an in-house Certified Sommelier and award-winning Executive Mixologist with additional wine experts that can guide you through the Italian-driven wine list.

THE POSTA BRANDING PROJECT

The project included the full branding as well as various additional items including hording the restaurant while in construction before opening, menu cover design and packaging and their Xpress counter wallpaper which was a full collage of paper clippings from the original owned restaurants of the owners Rocco Jr. and Marco Mastrangelo and Moses including Cafe Diplomatico's 50+ years history — plastered across the wall.

The round logo was designed to look like a postage stamp which was a bit obvious, having a mid-century feel, all while being modern. There were also various versions of the logo/colours so that they could be used with various applications in mind. The fonts used were Intro Inline and Blanch Caps.
The geometric mid century pattern on the pizza boxes and the menus are inspired by the floor in the dining/bar area; tying in some of the aesthetics.

The wine labels were to be placed on bottles displayed in the wall of features wines, as you walk in. As well, they have been placed above the bar to show that the brand is ubiquitous and ever-present.
