Selfie with Gustave Caillebotte
The brief was to incorporate selfie illustration in the artist's painting
done as a part of a class room project. It was a one week course on illustration.
Gustave Caillebotte was a French painter with remarkable abilities during Impressionism. He was known for his early interest in photography as an art form. This painting shows a number of individuals walking through the Place de Dublin, in 1877 known as the Carrefour de Moscou, Paris. His work stands out from the other
impressionists in its realism. He paid attention to lines rather than broad brush strokes. The cropping of the man shows
his deep interest in photography.
