Odor Interaction Concepts
In this era with high divorce rate, although online matchmaking service is booming, it is still hard for youngsters to find true love. According to the survey, there were 3.841 million couples divorced in 2015. One-in-five women aged 25-29 are single and the divorce rate worldwide is increasing.
It is disappointing that matchmaking agencies do not accurately grasp the actual needs of youngsters to provide suitable solutions. Rather, it makes pure love a business fraud. BBC programme The Secrets of Human points out that everyone has his/her own odor, which, will be a reliable attractive factor for opposite sex. As a student majoring in design, I find odor is very attractive for me and I want to solve some social problems via combining odors with art and technology. Helen Fisher, the famous anthropologist has conducted a specific research about odor attraction, odor plays an important role in sex and matrimony, sometimes even decisive. Therefore I attempt to take advantage of people’s odors as the matchmaking factor to lower the divorce rate and decrease the number of single group.
Using new technologies to solve current paradoxes is my long-term wish, therefore I hope to fund a public welfare organization to help people build a connection with odors. In this case, I combine materials with texture, using real shops, applications and websites to let people find their true love more efficiently. The design adopts technologies, brand new visual stimulations and new methods to conduct a research about brand. Although it is an experimental idea, it may solve some problems in a relationship, change some terrible social statuses and save social resources because of the new business value formed by scientific methods.
