Stream // A cutlery and utensil holder designed to highlight the chemicals we introduce to our water system while washing dishes.

Conventional Dish Soap contains numerous harmful chemicals

Phosphates
Triclosan
SLS (sodium lauryl sulfate)/SLES (sodium laureth sulfate)
DEA (diethanolamine), MEA (monoethanolamine), TEA (triethanolamine)
Chlorine
Formaldehyde
Ammonia

Stream is designed to highlight these harmful chemicals that often go unnoticed by directing the dripping waste water from the cutlery directly onto an organic mass. The example used here is a basil plant thats health and usability is directly affected by the contaminants in the water introduced from washing up liquid and artificial soaps.

The form was purposely designed to evoke organic shapes and textures seen on stones worn down by flowing water. The form was prototyped using 3d printing and the final product was made in unglased ceramic, natural materials were used to reinforce the design aesthetic and complement the natural sculptural quality of Stream
