3 Things you can Stop Doing Now

1: You Do Not Have to Be Friends With People You Do Not Like.

You don’t have to create drama and be their enemies either. You can simply do as the wise do, which is to let them go their way while you peacefully and merrily go yours.
Sure, sometimes you have to interact with people you don’t like. Maybe you have to do that on a daily basis. Maybe it’s unavoidable. But courteous interaction – even daily – does not mean you have to pretend or pursue a friendship you don’t really want.

2: You Do Not Have to Have an Opinion About Everything.

It’s okay to answer, “I don’t know.”
It’s fine to say, “I’m not sure what I think about that yet.”
It’s good to admit that you don’t know enough to be informed about every issue.
Geez, I don’t even know enough to be informed about every music genre. Why do we all have to pretend that we have educated, intelligent opinions about every single thing? We don’t. We can’t.
So feel free to admit that you are still learning, still engaging, still becoming informed, and still forming opinions.

3: You Do Not Have to Stay in That Rut.

Look, falling into a rut – and staying there – happens to everybody.
Sometimes a certain part of life is taking up so much energy that you have to put everything else on survival mode. You get through the crisis, whatever it was, and find that most of your life has degraded into default mode.
Deep in a rut, in other words.
This is not a terrible thing and it’s a very fixable thing. You maybe made choices that got you here, but you don’t have to keep making those same choices.
One of the most powerful truths in the world is the truth that you can change.
It’s intimidating but it’s true.
You chose something once; you don’t have to choose it again.
You had a habit once; you can form a different habit.
You set some goals; you can revisit and redefine your goals.
These things are all within your power.
Whatever the rut is, for you, think of one single thing you can do to start working your way out of it. And then ask yourself for one tiny, tiny move toward that thing every day.
Miss a day? That’s okay. Try again the next day.
A setback is not a failure. A season in the mucky rut is not your fate; it’s just a season.
What will you stop doing today?
