Code // Skincare Website

Code is a skincare company focused on not just getting rid of acne, but also destroying it for good. Consumers can find their perfect code to do just that. It has a routine of nine steps, customizable for every kind of skin.

Young adult women with the drive to succeed in life were the kind of people I wanted to target. They would be more dedicated to the nine-step process. My mood board has a lot of geometric lines to reflect strength. This is contrasted by soft, floral shapes.
The colors chosen are the muted version of what is considered to be stereotypically girly: pink and yellow. Blue hues were added in to compliment them. I decided to focus on the yellow, navy, and light gray to be my main colors, with the mauve, lighter blue, and dark gray to by my accents. The header font came in because I wanted the brand to be high end. It was a thin, sans serif font that used thin lines; this reflected my mood board. The body font contrasted yet fit well, being a thin serif font.
In my research to create Code's logo, I looked at different tools that were known for destroying. This was to keep the brand focused on getting rid of acne completely.
I sketched out a few ideas that used the idea of a sledgehammer. In the end, I felt like that direction was too harsh. So, I focused on the parts of tools. Screws and drills have pointed tips, something that is tough, but not too harsh. My mood board also used a lot of triangles so I went with that route.
After sketching and working around in illustrator, I came up with a hollow, geometric prism - something strong yet somewhat dainty. I added a slash to the "O" to become a zero. I knew I wanted to classify the skin types within Code with numbers, so this would reflect that.
As far as my research into skincare, I looked at popular routines in America and parts of Asia, since their routines are renowned. I, of course, have had my own experience with skincare, so I knew what to look for. At first, I wanted to base my company on lifestyle. But, the problem with this is that lifestyle routines assume everyone in each lifestyle has the same skin type and problems along with it. Thus, I focused on Combination, Dry, Oily, and Normal skin.
I created four categories of skincare with the nine steps I researched. Four colors from my mood board were used to separate the different levels. Code One was for dry skin, Code Two was for oily skin, Code Three was for combination skin, and Code Four was for normal skin. They would be interchangeable, so people could pick and choose based on what their skin needed.

The design was supposed to be simple and easy to differentiate between codes. This is where the colored bands came in since they could be associated with them.
I looked at other websites that used angles in their design. I found that anything from sold objects to photos would be a wise to implement in my design. I also viewed websites that used darker base colors with pop of bright hues.
Most of my color palette was used throughout my website, with navy being the base color, yellow and mauve for accent colors, and yellow and light gray for text. I kept the theme of solid bars striping throughout the layout.
