SKATEBOARD DECK COMMISSION FOR XGAMES 2010
SKATEBOARD DECK COMMISSION FOR XGAMES 2010
For Discovery Channel's 2010 promotion of Shark Week and the XGames, Discovery commissioned 14 select artists to design custom skateboard decks for the games. The decks were eventually auctioned off for charity and all the proceeds went to the Oceana foundation.
Our deck, called the "Driftwood", started as a "Tony Trujillo" custom ANTI-HERO skateboard. From there we started stripping, sandblasting, bead blasting, painting, staining and carving the board until it truely looked like a piece of driftwood that had just washed up on shore. The board was customized with a "K KUSTOMS" logo on top and bottom and the typography on the bottom of the deck was from an official International Shark Attack Report.
Thanks again to Kerry from Blasted Arts and Mike from MNFX for bringing their amazing craftsmanship to the project.
