Family Tree of Life is a surreal digital composite exploring the relationship between depression and bipolar disorder as primarily a maternal gene within my family. Together, we act as a life support system in the same way worms do for the earth and umbilical cords do for the fetus. The history, support, and connection we all have is evoked through symbols of extension, nourishment, life, and survival. Together, we have made it out alive and are breaking the cycle of suicide and environmental components of mental illness.
