I created these illustrations for the Bologna Children's Book Fair, inspired by a hungarian lullaby (written by the poet Sándor Weöres). The mysterious poem that lures the reader into a dreamlike land has been one of my favourites since my early childhood. With the illustrations I wanted to convey that peaceful but curious state of the mind just before falling asleep, when the thoughts wander free barely toutching the echoes of reality.
I used a plant-based dye, diluted with various chemicals, to create the gradients that give colours to the illustrations, and to this base I printed on with several small (2,5x2,5 cm) linos.
