Access Visual Art: Instagram Organic Strategy

THE BRIEF
The non-profit initiative Access Visual Art was founded in 2017 by Akimbo and AccessTO. It aims to make accessibility information about art venues in Ontario easier to find in one reliable space on the web. With a small team and limited grant funding, we had to launch a website as well as build up their digital presence on social media.

THE CONCEPT
Part of my role on the team was to start an Instagram account that would increase brand awareness and interest before the website was ready for launch. My goal was for everyone that came across the account to instantly understand what Access Visual Art was about. I created high-impact, branded graphics featuring testimonials and statistics - snippets that would quickly explain the purpose and intent for the organization. I balanced these with clean venue imagery, using the captions to explain each venue's accessibility features (or lack thereof).

THE RESULT
The Instagram got off to a successful start, gaining almost 150 followers during the time I managed it from July 2017 to October 2017. It also became part of the accessibility and art communities on Instagram, gaining engagement from artists with disabilities that were thrilled to see this kind of content come across their feeds.
