Final cover of volume one.
My moodboard for this book after meeting with the publishers and reading through the design spec. I wanted this 5 volume set to feel definitive and scholarly. Because this project was taking Vos's Dutch writings and translating them for the first time, I also wanted to add a modern touch with a bright color contrasting the dark grey.
Early sketches of the seal. I though adding a seal or logo to the series would add to the trustworthiness of the books as well as add a refined element to the covers.
I also wanted to give a nod to the heritage of Vos and his works. I liked this etching of a Dutch town to add texture and depth.
The final volumes.
