SKIN DEEP is an Artist book with five editions that is conceptualized around a deep and intimate autobiographical experience.
Each edition creates a contrast between three elements that drive my enquiry:-
(a) The rationality of technical anatomical drawings,
(b) the vulnerability and intimacy of handwritten poetry, and
(c) the polished and romanticized lyrics of pop songs.
The books depict how it is extremely difficult to get through to our raw and uninhibited emotions, because of the practical and idealistic world created by aspects such as scientific research and pop culture.
The book works in layers to evoke the feeling of unravelling the many dimensions of a single emotion. These are a few spreads from the books.
