This project started as a typesetting exercise. I began by composing a paragraph describing a future project that focused on a childhood fascination. My fascination with rocks then led to the birth of this visual translation of a rock with colored rectangles. Each set of rectangles is in proportion to the Fibonacci sequence, and come together to provide a visual summary of the rocks in my collection. To inform the content of the book, I conducted research on each rock and wrote a summary about each stone, along with common names and various properties of the rock. This project received Arizona State University Design Excellence in Spring 2017.
