Essence - Conceptual Embodiment of Sharjah

An experimental project done for Sharjah Heritage Days.
Done with the collaboration of: Marafi Abdulrahman, Asmaa Ramadan, Ayesha Ghanim, and Lubna Al-Mualla,
Essence is the intrinsic or indispensable quality of something, especially something abstract, which determines its character. Sharjah at its core shines brilliantly. The name Sharjah is derived from Al-Sharq (The East) – where the sun rises to light the Earth and breathe life into it.
Sharjah wields knowledge like a torch that lights the way to new discoveries and innovations. Its heritage is a mirror that reflects all of its people, and in turn the heritage itself reflects within the heart and soul of every individual. While keeping in touch with its culture and past, everything in Sharjah glistens with a shine of modernity. It gleams as a place that welcomes all kinds of people and takes pride in its diversity, at the same time it holds strong to its religion and this radiates from the heart of its essence.

The art piece is an installation that explores the light of Sharjah through the process of photography combined with digital manipulation, representing the different features of Sharjah in an abstract way.
