PLAYING CARD
GANGSTER KING
An assignment for my Composition class required me to create a face card. The design, inspired by 1931 gangster film , features actor James Cagney, who portrays the main character, Tom Powers, in the film. The Art Deco / Film Noir style is meant to evoque the dark undertones of the powerful mobs that dominated American life in the early 20th Century. This concept will be used to create an entire deck of cards, with each suit portraying a different gangster family.
The design, completed in iPad App, Vectornator, was printed with a Risograph.
