Bag Lady
Another collaborative live painting.
Holla Back Fridays is a great bi-weekly event that happens back in my hometown San Antonio, TX. Hosted by the mad talented DJ Tech-Neek inside Tucker's Kozy Korner, Holla Back Fridays are a combination of good people, live painting, and some great music. Tech-Neek spins Classic Hip-Hop, R&B, Dance Hall, and Neo Soul at this event and will invite a local artist out to paint and raffle the work out to the audience. It's a great combination of art and music. Last year, Rabbit Rye and I were asked to come out and paint at the event.
I love collaborating with Rabbit and this nice was special as it was one of the first shows we painted at as a couple. The weather was a crisp & cool and the people were very supportive of our work. Rabbit and I got our heads together and decided to work on an Erykah badu piece. We are both fans and I personally thought painting one of her wild ass headdresses would be a lot of fun.
The drinks were cold and the music was hot. We got the piece done in a few hours and proceeded to sell raffle tickets and boogie down. The woman who won was super excited and puffed on her cigar for the remainder of the night with Miss badu right next to her, the envy of the dancers and party-goers. After the night was over, Rabbit mentioned she would like to create some jewelry from this painting. She decided on hairclips and produced them in our home soon after. Handcrafted with care, women love these little follicle gems. They have been a great item at shows for Rabbit.
