Last year, I was hired for a year long contract with National Geographic's online learning platform, Cengage.
The project involved bringing the design of the 27 activity engines and platform forward, making them responsive as well as adapting for mobile experiences. These courses are delivered worldwide on a variety of platforms and devices within the National Geographic / Cengage network. Responsibilities include evolving the design language and overall look and feel of the engines, deep UX thinking around each activity, documenting the functionality and interactions for multiple dev teams, as well as designing and solving for responsive behavior on each activity at each screen size. Each activity had many layered micro-interactions as well.The project was contracted to take engines designed for desktop and adapt them to work on mobile devices for a total of 27 engines. It involved designing over 850 screens for mobile, tablet & desktop.
