Palpa - Land of Dhaka

Wondering in the streets of Palpa, filled with art and architecture.
The history and the culture made us explore the allies and tasting the local
delicacy is always a gem while visiting new places.
Most of the people we met on this trip had some captivating stories about Palpa.
Exploring artistic culture lead us to the traditional handlooms in Tansen,
where people still use the classic way to knit Dhaka cloths.
Even the custom of making ‘home-woven’ cloths has been drifting away slowly,
the history itself is one of the most inspirational and motivational aspects to value
 the handwoven Dhaka cloths.
From gifting Dhaka made 'Sari' to the Queen; to the Dhaka topi still rasing high and Dhaka as a symbol of pride still worn by men and women around Nepal.

The handloom was made from one type of Salla tree (pine tree) that is known as ‘Tangsing’ in the Magar language, and which is to be found in plenty in Palpa district. Hence, the district headquarter was called Tangsing in Magar,
which went on to become present-day Tansen.
Situated at 5 km North-west of Tansen on the Palpa-Gulmi road.
Bhairavsthan, the temple homes an idol of deity Kali and a large idol of Bhairav.
What amazed me was devotees offer an especially ready bread known as ‘Rot’,
coconut and metal spear together with prayers at the temple hoping for the fulfillment of their desires. Though only the middle part of the bread is offered rest of it returned and it is actually really delicious.
The 'Trishul' settled before the temple is also said to be the largest Trishul in Asia.
Nearly 18km drive form Tansen takes you to the majestic palace, Rani Mahal.
Build by Khadga Rana Sumsher in 1893 after the death of his wife Tej Kumari Devi.
The beautiful monument, a tribute to love rests alongside the Kaligandaki river in Palpa. Its said that the queen had an intuition of her death and asked him to build a memorial to keep her memory alive after her death. The palace is surrounded by shrines, a layered garden, and stable for horses. Though the palace looks splendid from outside the inside of it is desolated, we hoped there would be some historical reminiscence, belongings or some paintings but it is just an empty palace yet alive in history books.
The trip to this astonishing place filled with history and art makes me want to come back and explore more about the traditional handlooms or even try to weave one.
Some old people were eager to talk about the stories when
Sen dynasty ruled Palpa but most of them had a different perspective on the stories,
would love to research more about the history connected to it.
Thought the culture and the society now have been lead by technology but
Palpa still preserves its culture and history.

Trust me Palpa will enlighten your soul.
