Texas Rangers Take a Chance on Veteran Pitcher Matt

Randy Eastburg is the owner of Valley Ridge Roofing and Construction, a successful Texas-based company that serves residential and commercial customers. Alongside his work, Randy Eastburg follows local professional sports teams, including the Texas Rangers.

In a move that surprised some fans, the Texas Rangers acquired left-handed pitcher Matt Moore from the San Francisco Giants in exchange for two minor league prospects. Although Moore is coming off a disappointing 2017 season, the 28-year-old brings some much-needed experience to the team’s pitching rotation.

Drafted by Tampa Bay in 2011, Moore spent his first five seasons in the majors pitching as a Devil Ray. His best season came in 2013 when he maintained a 3.29 ERA and ended with a 17-4 record. Moore’s performance earned him a spot on the 2013 All-Star Team, but he has had difficulty returning to All-Star form since undergoing Tommy John surgery (ulnar collateral ligament reconstruction) in 2014.

The Rangers are taking a risk on Moore, considering his recent struggles and career-worst season. However, team managers believe Moore can revive his career, and they are prepared to give him a chance to prove himself in 2018.
