One year into Graphic Design, I was caught off guard by a new project. An upcoming Holiday Stroll required a map inside the brochure my mentor Annmarie Thompson was laying out. Coincidentally I loved Live Trace in Illustrator (digitally scanning an image and converting pen line to vector) so I would do it by hand.
I hand sketched a Google Earth capture of the city, scanned it, and filled in the spaces with an autumn color palette.
It took me a week to sketch and I had two days to finalize as the deadline was such short notice!
This is a memorable project for me. I was still new to design and there was a lot of freedom creating this map. I can remember thinking it was such an amazing final piece, though with experience I can't stop reflecting on what I'd do differently!
