Scouting materials from our laptops and on the road

Harvesting takes a few steps:

-scan the area for industries
-decide which industries are interesting because they may have:

Production waste: always available in regular amounts, from the production process

Dead stock: un-sell-able stock, that has been on the shelves of wholesale companies
End of life cycle: broken or worn out parts, cars, fridges, washing machines or worn out building (parts)

Advertisement waste: still in good shape after use. Because of its nature advertisement material has to be in good quality to represent products. It is easy to predict when it will become available. Banners, exhibitions stands etc

-then call them, see if they are interested
and
-start to tour around and visit.

ONE MATERIAL HIGHLIGHTED:
LASER CUT WASTE
production waste from the car industry

These days a lot of machine parts are laser cut from metal sheets. In this process the client pays for every millimeter that is cut and for the material. At the same time designers have discovered the potential of this technique to create awesome patterns for fences and shading screens and so on.

SUPERUSE in this case combines the two flows

the waste of the car part industry results in beautiful patterns that can be applied in architecture. We do not even have to design the pattern, just choose one!!

saving labour because the cutting and design work has already been done, energy and money!
