In this project, I was given the task to create a design as well as creating the online version of a Hawaiian shirt.

- Adobe Illustrator

I had looked a different designs of Hawaiian shirts from different sources to brainstorm ideas. I came up with an idea after looking at some pictures relating to video game art.

I first started the project with the base Hawaiian shirt layout that was given to me. I used this layout as the background layer of the Illustrator art board. 

In the image above, it shows that I am tracing the structure of the Hawaiian shirt using the pen tool on illustrator. I now have a copy of the Hawaiian shirt I can use to experiment on some designs. I then moved onto the design of the shirt.

While looking on the web, I came across an image I had adore. This image was from an icon created by Riot Games for League of Legends. I had wanted to create something similar to this so I had decided to trace out the structure of this image and tried to incorporate it to my design for the Hawaiian shirt. 

I had copied some of the structure of the image I had found online, but I had changed some parts of it during the finalization of the design process. I then used the color pallet to finalize the color of the design I will be using the the shirt.

I then used this image as the design for the Hawaiian shirt. I turned this image into a pattern in illustrator so that it matched the repetition part of the Hawaiian shirt.

I had played around with the settings to get the pattern that I wanted. The spacing of the image was important, that it all fit without leaving too many empty spacing. Lastly, in order to complete this shirt I needed to think about the color I wanted to support this pattern for the Hawaiian shirt. I ended up choosing a lighter blue color for the color of the Hawaiian shirt.

I had fun doing this project as it helped me improve on illustrator skills. I actually wanted to do another design in this project as well but I ended up doing this idea as the other ideas I had did ended up the way I wanted it to. In this assignment I had tried to recreate an artwork that has already been done by others. It was a struggle to come up with ideas that were original as anything could be used to create designs for a Hawaiian shirt, but a person's wants and needs effects what they think the shirt should look like. Overall, this design was the best one. If I had another chance to recreate this shirt, I would have created a different design with a different theme.
