Observe magazine is the result of a school assignment in the subject typography. We were to make a magazine, that focused on typography and design, and contained the two articles "White Space" by Ellen Lupton and "Typefaces and Typography" by Kenya Hara. The theme for this issue is the tension between function and aesthetic, a theme that is discussed in both articles, in regards to whitespace and typography.
In the article White Space I chose to focus on the effect whitespace can give - the absence or presence of it, and how it affects the content.
Typeface and typography by Kenya Hara tells the story of typography and how it developed. With a focus on the development of movable type and the culture from east meets west - I found this aspect interesting to try and depict.
