Пока жена отсутствовала в номере, покупая очередные драгоценности в многочисленных магазинах находящихся совсем рядом с отелем, Вальдемар заметил край фотографии и листа бумаги, которые торчали из нижнего ящика стола. Из любопытства он открыл ящик, достал их, развернул письмо и прочитал: "Жду сегодня в 18:00 в магазине напротив." К письму была приложена фотография.. Он все понял. Понял, где пропадала его жена прикрываясь безобидными и уже привычными походами в соседние бутики в это время дня.

После примерки новых покупок, Сали по привычке уселась в мягкое кресло и позвонила своей близкой подруге, чтоб похвастаться сегодняшними обновками. Восторг и болтовня подруги совсем отвлекли Сали, она лишь заметила в отражении зеркала, что Вальдемар спокойно шел со спины с направленным на нее пистолетом.. В последние секунды она попыталась что-то прокричать в трубку ошеломленной от её покупок подруге, но крик оборвался глухим выстрелом...

Сметая пыль с гипсовых статуэток в коридоре отеля и думая о чем-то своем, Александра, работавшая в этом отеле совсем недавно, около трех месяцев, проходя мимо номера Вальдемара и Сали, услышала громкий, но короткий крик. Выстрела она почти не слышала, разве что небольшой хлопок. Осторожно приоткрыв дверь, она увидела мужчину с пистолетом в руке и женщину, которая так любезно обходилась с ней, давай почти каждый день щедрые чаевые за безупречно убранный номер. Голова женщины была сильно наклонена и поза ее явно не была естественной. Только спустя секунду, она ощутила явный резкий запах пороха и заметила брызги крови на ковре. Чуть не вскрикнув, Александра побежала прочь от этого номера. Спустившись на ресепшен, она дрожащими от увиденного руками, набрала номер местной полиции, и еле как смогла выговорить эту фразу: "Приезжайте быстрее. Тут произошло убийство". На место преступления приехал детектив Пауль, известный в Париже сыщик, с исключительно безупречной репутацией по раскрытию убийств. Ему сообщили, что убийство произошло в известном отеле и некоторые первые подробности от смертельно испуганной девушки, которая занималась уборкой номеров. Пауль войдя в номер, обнаружил беспорядок. Некоторые вещи были раскиданы, на полу валялся светильник, бутылка виски и другие предметы. Тут же профессионально оценив обстановку,

Спустя 10 минут разговора, он показал Александре фотографию, которую достал из кармана своего пальто. Каково же было удивление и ужас на лице сотрудницы отеля, когда на этой фотографии она узнала Вальдемара, того человека, который менее 2 часов назад убил свою жену.
