Carmel's Cakes - Corporate Identity

Carmel’s Cakes is an at-home business owned by Carmel Dennison who bakes for all party and function needs, specializing in magnificent cakes. Carmel desired a logo that was fun yet sophisticated as her main target audience was young children’s parties but is open to all types of functions. She chose the colours blue and yellow as they are neutral and can appeal to all. The typefaces used in the logo are very elegant with the word ‘cakes’ being delicately hand-written. This gave that sophisticated feel to it, though the ‘L’ made into a spoon with yellow cake batter dripping off keeps the mood light. The ‘C’ encompassing the logo is hand-rendered, made to resemble the look of swirled icing. This also adds fun and movement into the logo as well as creating a fixed setting to which the type can rest.
Company stationary was also designed with the use of a subordinate pattern which expanded on the spoon design used in the logo. Each piece of stationary has its own random pattern. This pattern adds to the light and vibrant mood which is perfect for appealing to young children and parents, though it still carries with it a level of formality with the use of solid colours and lack of outlines.
The multi-use business card has this pattern on the back of it, with the front being clean and simple. The business card has a wavy edge which acts as an icing scraper in order to make beautiful patterns on a cake. The other items of stationary designed were an invoice form and a personalized notebook for Carmel to write down her orders. In addition, designs for a company car as well as T-shirts for the use of merchandise were created
