Rejuvenating the Ecological History of Sharjah

My intentions were to create a public space that hold all sorts of activities for people, and hide the building structures under a mat of green fabric. Space is provided with shading and seating elements. the green mat was sliced with lines that came from historical major grid lines. Those lines make up the edges of the buildings as well as the walkways through the site.

On the water edge, I suggested a natural filteration system, using pearl oysters that are found in local environment. This system would filter the water from the cournishe and allow clean water to flow in between the two souq structures as a water canal, creating a natural marine habitat.

Rest of the site hold programs including: scientific research center, pearl museum, gallery spaces, artists workshops, retail restaurants and cafes.
