For this project I had to create a fictional cover for the book Heart of Darkness written by Joseph Conrad. I started my work by doing a brainstorm, where I tried to capture the main ideas and themes of the history. 

Then I proceed to the first drawing. 

And then using the pen tool in Illustrator I made the outline draw, that later I painted in Photoshop. 

And also made a lettering for the title.

This was the final result. After reading the book is perceptible to the reader the symbology present on the cover. Nellie's smoke symbolizes civilization, in contrast to the dense lianas of the African forest, all enveloped by the Fibonacci spiral. The golden ratio is considered the perfect harmony, which is related to the feelings experienced by Kurtz in African society. In the title I also tried to convey the ideas that he is disappearing to the heart of the forest. On the back cover I did not feel the need to use an excerpt from the book, I think the emblematic phrase, the horror, the horror! Is enough to convey the atmosphere of the story and succeeds in summarizing it perfectly.
