Sixdof Space: 6DOF Tracking UI for Matlab

Prototype to Explain Innovative InsideOut Tracking Solution for VR Headsets
INDUSTRY: Technology, Virtual Reality
SKILLS: UI Development, Rapid Prototyping
BUSINESS:
Six Degrees Space holds a patent pending solution for a faster (than ever) tracking based on existing light sources in the environment. It was founded at the beginning of 2017 by Mark Goldfarb, Daniel Greenspan and Klony Lieberman.

They asked me to create a demo app that would assist the process of showing the quality of their solution's performance. They had an existing solution for 3 degrees of freedom, but also a planned implementation for 6 degrees, therefore the app should have support for that future roadmap.
Building UI Has Similar Principles, Whatever Environment You Work With. Yes, Even in MATLAB.
DESIGN:
After learning the MATLAB GUI system (GUIDE), I created a layout considering 2 main personas in mind: the Know-it-all-Scientist and the Simple-man-from-the-Streets. The solution had to satisfy both of these personas, since the company meets them both.

The layout divided the screen into 1/3 - 2/3 relationship between the visual representation of the 3D plane, and the controls. The 3D object moves according to the sensor and its responsiveness represents the performance of the technology.
I simplified the controls section and moved extra options to a side menu, opened from a small button. The running numbers in the bottom of the screen are important for the scientists.
