There are plenty of trendy coffee shops where men with complicated beards serve complicated coffee. When Norwegian dairy producer Tine wanted to create a place for teenagers and young adults, we backed up to create a cafe that feels like an oasis of homeliness and safety in a landscape of deadlines, crowded study halls and tiny shared apartments.

Heimatt is a collaboration between Tine and IKEA, focusing on food and interior design. The cafe serves breakfast all day long, and is a perfect place to hang out with friends, do some work or just relax.

Heimatt is a Norwegian word, a folksy and rural way to say “back home”. The word inspired the profile and the logo, which is derived from the common brass door plate. It connotes “coming home” - and a cafe that is a home away from home.
