Sekka Festival (Branding)

The visual language of Sekka Festival is inspired by the Khayameya Fabric used in decorating the weddings that take place in the slum areas of Cairo (Chaabi Weddings), which is the main platform for the Electro Chaabi (Mahraganat) music.

The name Sekka means road in Arabic, it was chosen because the Chaabi Weddings take place in the streets of their neighbourhoods. Also, the music lyrics is very explicit, coming from the street and to the people in the street.

The Festival communicates the real Mahraganat music listeners, which is a bit odd to the usual contemporary festivals that take place in Cairo, and have the financial earnings as their priority. That's why they target the middle/high class youth, under the umbrella of "contemporary music". But Sekka festival targets the lower class Electro Chaabi music listeners, setting its venue in Imbaba, which is a slum area in Cairo.
