The New York Public Library holds more than just books. With 93,000 free programs a year across its 92 locations in New York City, there’s something for everyone of all ages to enjoy. From author talks, to live musical performances, to art exhibitions, and children’s workshops, it’s easy to find something the whole family can enjoy. Here’s a snapshot of children’s events that are yet to come.

Held every day of the week, children and their parents can enjoy interactive stories, songs, and fingerplays to develop your baby’s and toddler’s love for books and learning! It’s also a great opportunity for your child to spend time with other children in your neighborhood. No matter where you are in New York City, you can find a Toddler or Baby Storytime event near you by utilizing the search function here.

Held weekly throughout the month of June, children can play detective and will discover nature’s mysteries of live animals and plant artifacts. A naturalist from the New Canaan Nature Center in Connecticut will be leading the class with hands-on experiments to help students uncover nature’s clues from the wild. The event will be held on, June 1st, June 15th, and June 22nd at 330 p.m. in the Seward Park Library on East Broadway.

Are your kids still waiting for their admissions letter to Hogwarts? Give your children a chance to get ahead of the game by enrolling them in a potions class! Although it won’t be taught by Severus Snape himself, the staff at Ottendorfer Library will teach your child to concoct mysterious elixirs and brew restorative cordials. Class will begin on Thursday, June 1 at 3:30 p.m.
