Here, we sketched concept art for our snow character and Canadian animal, as well as lay out the storyboards we drew on index cards. The concept sketches were drawn in Photoshop and on sketchbooks.
These photos are of us completing the colour scripts in our assigned beats, which will be used to create the final animatic. We also drew concept art such as backgrounds and character lineups.
TEXT PITCH, STORYBOARD, AND CONCEPT ART
Component 1 / Text Pitch:
The story begins with an 8-year old boy who roams the snowy mountains alone. He wanders day by day, searching the mountains in hopes to track the unknown whereabouts of his parents. Living without them has caused him to become exhausted, sick, and worried. One day, while scavenging for food to fill his empty stomach, the boy encountered a polar bear cub. He immediately froze and feared that the vicious predator will see him as food, until the cub displayed calmness. Its intentions were not to attack the child, but to lead him into following it to a certain destination instead. The boy felt confused at the polar bear's relaxed stillness, however, he decided to see what it would do next. Ever since the encounter between child and animal, the two have explored the snowy mountains together. The polar bear continues to lead the way as the curious child follows behind, eager to see where it will take him. They began to develop a friendly companionship, being one another's friend atop the cold and lonely mountains. As the journey comes to an end, the young boy discovers not only the place that the cub has wisely guided him to, but what has become of his lost parents.
