Designsystem for Pädiko
Pädiko approached us to do a redesign of their website. Pädiko is a large corporation that functions as an umbrella company for several important branches within the childcare market. They play a huge role in education, research and are pioneers in creating holistic approaches in the eduction for the young. The website needed to reflect the values, such as innovative and creative, of the company.
Wireframing
Many page templates are designed for both desktop and mobile. During this process different layouts are tried out in order to structure the information correctly and to create clear call-to-actions per page or pageblock.
Styling of the pages
The approach of the styling was a combination of playful elements with a serious look and feel. The bright colours are used to guide the user and let the user know in what section of the website they are. The brushed surfaces and the icons create the desired playfulness while the clarity in the design is enhanced through the whitespace and the typography.
Building blocks
A full design system is created for Pädiko with a lot of different page designs that are made up out of different building blocks. Such blocks can be seen as functionalities that can be used on all pages. A page is built up through these blocks. Different page templates are created that focus on the right User Experience for the type of task or information exchange that is at hand.
Icons
Early in the design phase it is decided that icons would be used as extra joyous indicators for the navigation of pages or functionality of a certain block. The iconset uses a comical style in the line-art to achieve the right balance between serious and playful.
Mockup
A mockup is created of the project to be able to test the navigation and page layouts. It helped a lot to explain the navigation structure and to guide the client through all the pages.
