Thrupps Grocers – Brand Identity

Thrupps Grocers
Brand identity

Since opening its doors in 1892, Thrupps grocery store continues to delight customers with the finest local and imported delicacies. Renowned for its special brand of service and old world charm, the store remains a family-owned business.

We were asked to rebrand the Thrupps identity for its 125-year anniversary. We created a visual style that honoured Thrupps’ past while placing them firmly in a modern context. Drawing inspiration from the store’s rich history, we referenced old photographs and documents to create the logo mark.A set of icons was developed based on the original Thrupps building and their 1920’s Ford Model T delivery car.

We created patterns for labels and packaging based on historical elements, such as the green and white striped awnings that once adorned the top of the butchery. The photographic style is contemporary, as is the food styling – with products being captured in mid-air or arranged in interesting compositions. The captivating typographic illustrations and product illustrations reference Thrupps’ legendary service and attention to detail.
