Popliteal Anastomoses

The proximal end of the Greater saphenous vein is sutured to the popliteal arteriotomy with 5-0, 6-0 suture. Suturing proceeds in a proximal to distal direction and meets in the midline of the medial side as indicated by the arrows.
The final step in the Greater saphenous vein graft to Popliteal artery anastomoses is to tie of the suture to close the arteriotomy. Bloodflow can now bypass the blocked portion of the Femoral artery.
