This essay I wrote about Mister Bodoni and his impact on creating a font used by kings and the wealthy population of his era.
I created a "likeness" of Mister Bodoni by using characters, numbers and letters from his font family and think it captures the essence of what he might have looked like.
I chose a plum purple for the headers, pull quote, drop cap and required elements for contrast and a "pop" of color.  I also thought the gray was a nice contrast for the body copy and repeated in other elements within the spread.
I used paragraph styles to create repetition and strengthen the principles of design, especially consistency in alignment.  I used a serif font for the body copy, ,Didot for the pull quote (as Mister Bodoni had a close relationship with Mr. Didot) and the Bodoni font for the headers and drop cap.  This gives a good contrast and emphasizes the hierarchy throughout the paper.
