The Topography of Start-up Support in Basel

There exist various organisations in Basel committed to promoting innovation and competition in Switzerland. While independent to each other their activities often overlap. For this project, the parties came together for the first time with the aim of providing an overview of each organisations’ individual focus.
Our task was to visually reconcile this complex structure and to find an approach to represent and compare each organisation and its range of services. It was a great challenge to bring together the visual identities of each of the organisations, and to adapt them in favour of a common representation.
We chose to implement an A3 folding poster because it can be reprinted individually with little effort, fits in any pocket and accordingly can be distributed easily. Topography served as a visual metaphor. The poster was divided into segments that can be read from the organisation's focus (dimension: location) or its offer of services (dimension: colour). Detailed information is listed in tabular form on the back side.
The poster's success was already evident at the first presentation, as other organisations asked to be included on the landscape.
