For some time we have been increasingly drawn to geometric tessellations and tile design. Truchette tiles is my personal take on the pattern first described by the French Mathematician, Sebastien Truchet in 1704. My contribution to the pattern here is extruding his pattern into three dimensions, carefully controlling the angles and curves, a finely detailed crease in the center that rises to two narrow but flat ridges on either side.

The project was a design and installation for the Mayor's office in Chicago.
