The State Department of the United States tasked a team of students from Virginia Tech called Diplomacy Lab to research and present a solution to inform younger generations on the dangers of the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction. The team, compromised of multiple Political Science majors, one Communications major, and one Visual Communication Design Major (me), spent the semester as a think-tank for this question. Ultimately we decided to move forward with a medium that was most convenient for younger generations- an app.  After spending a few weeks devising a precise survey and polling our target audience, I began designing the app. This is the final set of screens that was presented to the State Department in Washington, D.C. that was paired with an extensive research paper written by the entire team together. The app contains certain visual features that are tailored to the target audience such as trending, voting, and data visualization. The app would also have highly curated content that is crafted in a way that makes normally bland news more engaging, colloquial, and palatable.
