Does the human body work like a musical instrument?
The body works, deliberately and involuntarily, like an enormous sound box.
You can realise it when you put your ear right up to in a stomach or a thoracic cage, right up to a back, when you lay down sideways and your hear your own heart beating.
The thoracic cage amplifies the beatings of the heart, whining of instestine, the whisper of air in the lungs.
All these sounds become perceptible only due to the special structure of the skeleton of human body.
The ribs form a cavity that amplifies all sounds.
The skull works as the same way. It amplifies the voice. It’s is unique form that gives to the voice its special tone, as a signature.
Hands like a sound box
Hands can be use as a way to amplify sound. We use them like this when we put a leaf between our tumbs in the aim to produce a sound by blowing.
A sound is produced by an action. In the case of applause, it’s the shock produced by the crash between our palms.

The principle model is based on the impact action used during an applause.
However, these are not hand contact but the shock of the metal shells that creates a sound. This sound is amplified when the user’s hands form an envelope around the small models.
To make the link with the hands I worked around the ring. Moreover the rings are involuntarily sound elements. I have observed with my own ring. When it hits a metal object, glass or wooden sound sounds different depending on whether it is the ring body located inside of the hand or the top of the ring knocking the object said.
For me hands are an highly symbolic part of the human body. Specially in our relationship with sons and communication.
When we cup hands and shout. When we cup our hands over our ears or when we cover someone mouth to not hear.
«Body shaped box» take the form of a little sound box. Once opened, the user have two ring. Wear together, the rings change the hands as sounding objects.

Afin de pouvoir les entrechoquer pour créer un son, la nécessité d’avoir deux bijoux ou un bijou composé de deux parties s’impose dès le départ.
Pour faire le lien avec les mains, j’ai travaillé autour de la bague.
De plus je pense que les bagues sont, involontairement, des éléments sonores. J’ai pu l’observer grâce à la bague que je porte toujours.
Lorsqu’elle cogne un objet en métal, en verre ou en bois, le son produit sonne différemment selon si c’est le corps de bague, situé à l’intérieur de la main, ou le haut de la bague qui cogne le dit objet. La position prise par la main lors de ce geste peut également amplifier ou étouffer le son. Lorsque la main se referme sur une rampe d’escalier par exemple.
Les mains sont une partie du corps très symbolique, et notamment dans le rapport qu’elles entretiennent avec le son.
Elles peuvent aider à la communication en l’aidant à traverser, comme lorsqu’on place nos mains en porte voix, mais aussi l’empêcher de traverser en obstruant son passage, comme lorsqu’on place sa main devant la bouche de quelqu’un pour ne pas entendre ce qu’il à a dire ou lorsqu’on se bouche les oreilles.
«Body shaped box» se présente comme une petite caisse de résonnance. Une fois ouverte, deux bagues s’offrent à l’utilisateur. Lorsque les mains de son porteur se referment sur elles, elles deviennent objets sonores.
