This digital illustration is done for a map design competition held by a gallery in Wong Chuk Hang. 

Wong Chuk Hang was an industrial area in Hong Kong. In recent years, it's transforming into a fun and energetic neighbourhood with new art galleries, design shops, coffee shops and restaurants stationed in the factory buildings. The objectives of the map design are to provide visitors around the area a clear, functional and stylish travel guide, and to document the evolution of the area.

One of the challenges in this project is that a lot of point of interest are required to be present in the map. Besides clearly layout the illustrated part and the long listing of places, I simplified the details of the major landmarks and kept their most recognizable characteristics in the illustration. Colourful yet soft earth tone colour theme is used to illustrate this neighbourhood which is undergoing the interesting transformation and redevelopment.
