Two science-fiction concept illustrations of the cities of the future - a collaborated work from 2013 and 2014.
My friend and fellow artist, Aleksandra Miciak, is the author of the quick concept sketches (you would see them below as the before-and-after photos). I was literally drawing over her sketch lines, so my part in this collaboration was the widely understood execution of both of those sci-fi illustrations :) My intention was to get 100% of its potential out of each sketch.

This drawing is a very futuristic and eye-catching vision of the future world with its buildings, complicated structures, and advanced technology.
Vapor cloud in the foreground and the beautiful sky, that overcast the scene, soften the hard edges of buildings and diversify the composition.
This illustration harkens back to classic Sci-Fi of the 20's and 30's, when technology was recognized for what it was - essentially benevolent. That is to say, if there were any corruption in it, it was because the man himself was corrupt, and not because anything in technology could be.

This drawing is a very realistic and atmospheric vision of the future world.
The idea was that our civilization had to leave Earth as it was polluted and destroyed beyond repair, and the last living people had to build a life for themselves from scratch on another planet (that's why there are three moons), in a different galaxy.
Architecture is situated in a barren landscape made of bathed rock. The building itself comes off as foreign and alien, with its smooth texture and strange shapes. Moon and lights make the whole picture look mysterious and moody.
