About cover design : Its a college assignment for cover design practice, when I think about how start book cover design for Sherlock Holmes, only one word came in my mind ‘detective’ then I made a list of ornaments or objects used by Mr. Holmes and these probes were his check cloth hate, his smoke pipe, his detective lens and a weapon black rule stick.
Then I thought how many things I can get easily in project’s time limit. I found only one thing a lens. In between I was studying other book cover Sherlock Holmes stories. Many book covers very similar and this similarity is Sherlock Holmes with his smoke pipe, so for my design I take only a lens and put it on 18 th century’s newspaper prints. I got these newspaper articles from internet but after long searching. In front of book cover first I arrange all old newspaper print out in a composition with lens near window. Fortunately I got perfect lighting for photography of book cover composition fully match with light I mange it according to winter fade evening light and all typography and design work done digitally. In typeface selection I chose serif font for informational typeface.
