UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
Segment; curve; segment... Continuous linear composition of an infinite nature. The extrusion of a circumference with a diameter of 30mm, following a path: the generator element of all the moments of each and every piece, presented; a flexible body that gives character to the shape, assuming distinct sections in its construction. The series is inspired and mimics the matrix of the outer pipes. It resumes the idea of the tubing visible outside the wall, with connections between pieces, defining it in a cohesive and unique gesture.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION:
The great value of the solution is its adaptability, it’s the provided concept of an identity that mimics the pipes outside the existing walls, as well as a set of accessories created using the same principle. Segment; curve; Segment ... and the set becomes infinite.
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY:
This brass basin mixer is produced through a machinery process and subsequent polishing. The glossy finish is attained through a chroming process. Other finishes are available, like black and white mate or solid surface on the handle.
RESEARCH ABSTRACT:
Siza Vieira said about his objects: "In my work, there's no worries about inventing anything new. It is way more related to the history of things. For example, if I design a chair, I would like a chair that really looks like a chair "...
CHALLENGE:
A path that made sense. Given the huge universe of bath mixers, the initial idea was to find a concept somehow innovative and not just another inconsequential design. A strategy, that was about bringing a truly unique set, given the increasingly urgent needs of rehabilitation, was the starting point. The final result is the combination of tubular sections, simple and rational design, supposedly easily reproducible on the assembly line.
