ISTD Spiritualism FADS

In the Spiritualism Book, it stands in the belief that the spirits of the dead have both the ability and the inclination to communicate with the living.

Spiritualism is a fad that develops and reached its peak growth in the number of memberships
from the 1840s to the 1920s, particularly in the Victorian era. By 1897, Spiritualism was said to have more than 8 million followers in the United States and Europe, mostly drawn from the middle and upper classes.
In the late Victorian era, a great number of people admitted to have communicated with spirits. Humans have been fascinated with contacting the dead since the beginning of human existence. Many cave paintings dating back from thousands of years ago depicts skulls, bones, spirits and the afterlife. Victorian Spiritualism, also known as the Spiritualism movement, emerged in the late nineteenth century and attracted many people including Queen Victoria.

Modern Spiritualism is said to date from practices and lectures of the Fox sisters in New York State in 1848. The Trance mediums Paschal Beverly Randolph and Emma Hardinge Britten were among the most celebrated lecturers and authors on the subject in the mid nineteenth century. Some scientists of the period who investigated Spiritualism also became converts. They include Robert Hare, physicist William Crookes, evolutionary biologist Alfred Russell Wallace and author Arthur Conan Doyle.

In the Spiritualism Book Project, it will cover the 10 different types of spirit communications. Séance, Ouija board, dice, tarot cards, pendulum, palmistry, astrology, coin game, scrying and meditation. Each type of spirit communication has its definition and stories to help readers get better understanding on the subject.
