My third project via SocialPakt was for GROWL, a New York/New Jersey based organization that saves "death-row dogs," wanted a shirt that reflected transportation, as a significant portion of their services revolve around transporting animals to rescue, as well as education. (GROWL pulls and transports 80-100 dogs per month!)

While the idea proposed to me as an example was cute, I did not feel that their suggestion of a dog driving a car accurately reflected the nature or level of volunteer work that the organization engages in. I felt that a bus-load would be more appropriate. I found vintage New York bus images to reference and submitted a sketched design proposal.

Once approved, the design was re-drawn and inked before being scanned and vectorized.

The general layout was finished, and color comps were submitted, based on the shirt colors that were being considered. The client ended up choosing an entirely different color direction and the design was re-trapped to work with the new shirt and ink colors.

Colors and layout were finalized and the shirt was made available for limited online sale by SocialPakt.

As I retained the rights to my work, and as the organization conducting the fundraiser for which it was originally created has transitioned to something new, I decided to have some fun with it. The original ink drawing was vectorized and cleaned up in Adobe Illustrator and then colored using Adobe PhotoShop. 

50% of all profits will be donated to GROWL to further their rescue and adoption efforts.
